Cleaning & storing your gown

When you take your dress or outfit off, hang it on the original hanger and store it in the garment bag it came in. as soon as you can, get it professionally cleaned by a reputable dry cleaner. Even marks that don't show up immediately oxidise and stain eventually. The longer you leave it, the less likely it is the stain can be removed.

Look for a dry cleaning specialist offering a hand-finishing service, preferably one that specialises in formal wear. Ask for a reccommendation from the person who sold you the dress. Alert the dry cleaner to any stains and loose threads and seek their advice on beading or pearls (some crystalls can dull or pearls melt in the cleaning process). Identify any rips and tears so there's no further damage done during the cleaninmg process. A good cleaner will return the dress wrapped in acid free tissue paper either boxed or in a breathable garment bag. If you opt for the latter ensure the bag is breathable.

Store the dress in a temperate dry place, out of direct sunlight.
