Exclusive-Use Hotels

A number of hotels, particularly country houses and smaller boutique establishments, are available to hire in their entirety for one or more nights. Although costly, it afford the option of holding your own "house party" style celebration.  What most couples especially love about exclusive-use, is that they see only their friends and family wherever they go in the hotel. They are also offered an individual and bespoke approach to every aspect of their stay.

Because hotels will be unable to offer exclusive-use if they have already accepted reservations, you will need to secure the booking a year or more ahead. You are also likely to be asked for a significant non-refundable deposit. A country house or boutique hotel will also not want to lose money from a lucrative weekend-break trade. Thus if you only want to hire the hotel for one night it is unlikely you'll be able to do this over Saturday night. Consider having a wedding on Sunday or on a weekday. If you do plan to take over a hotel for two or more nights, check if it is significantly cheaper to do so during the week, which it probably will be. The period of exclusivity will usually run from early afternoon on the day of arrival to lunchtime on the day of departure. Price is normally negotiated by the hotel breaking down the total charge of the bed and breakfast accommodation per night, the cost of the wedding dinner and additional meals calculated per person, with drinksquoted for by the bottle or measure. The hotel will expect you to settle the account in full whether all the accomodation is used or not. Thus if you are simply planning to reserve the rooms in the hope that guests will choose to book them, exclusive-use is not for you. However, if this is an affordable option you will have an intimate, tailor-made wedding celebration that you and your guests will never forget.
