Reception venue checklist


  • Is there a facility fee?
  • Is there in-house catering, or can you hire your own?
  • What is included in the package and are meals calculated per head?
  • Does the price include VAT and will a service charge be added to the final bill?
  • How much is the deposit and when will full payment be required?
  • Is there a minimum spend?
  • Can you have a menu tasting free of charge?
  • How much would an evening buffet cost per guest?
  • Are furniture, linens, china and glassware included in the price?
  • Does the venue have a Honeymoon Suite included in the wedding package?
  • If accommodation is available, is it discounted for wedding guests?
  • If no accommodation is available, is there any close by?
  • Where can the bride get ready and will there be a charge?
  • Do they have a license to sell alcohol (if so, determine bar tariffs)?
  • Is there a dance floor or appropriate area for dancing and entertainment? If not, where can guests go whilst the room is being turned around?
  • Is live music allowed?
  • Do you need an entertainment license?
  • What time must the event finish?
  • What special areas are there for photographs? If outside, what are the wet weather alternatives?
  • Is parking available?
  • Do they have a list of recommended suppliers?
  • Is there a safe area to store gifts?
  • Will yours be the only wedding taking place? If not, do the function rooms have independent facilities?
