The build-up and the big day

Have a trim or cut ten days before your wedding days as hair settles neicely in that time. If you colour your hair have that touched-up too as you want the colour to be as close to the root as possible, especially if you plan to wear your hair up. Double check your wedding day appointments and ask whether they expect you to have already washed your hair, because some styles work better if hair settles overnight. If a hairdresser is coming to you, finalise transport arrangements and give written directions. Get a phone number in case they are late.

If you are wearing a veil ask your hairdresser to show someone other than you how to secure it in place. We advice not to secure the the veil at the salon, because it could get damaged or dirty, trapped in a car door or someone could tread on it. Veils are generally easy to secure and remove without disturbing your hair but someone needs to know how.

If you follow the experts' advice, then on your big day you simply have to get to the salon on time and enjoy it. This might be the only chance you have to sit down and relax. If you work with your stylist, then your hair will remain perfect throughout your celebration, including any unexpected gusts of wind and energetic dance floor activity. Know at all times where you will have access to a mirror, comb and hairspray (as well as lipstick and a compact) and enjoy looking and feeling fabulous!
