The build-up and the big day

As a precaution, during the week leading-up to your wedding do not try any new products on your face or body. Give yourself a head start in the beauty stakes by eating well, drinking plenty of water, avoiding alcohol and getting as much sleep as possible. This will also keep you tip-top mentally which is the best way to really enjoy your wedding week. If you are well-rested and well-nourished it will be easier to keep nerves under control and you will be less inclined to forget anything. If you are employing the services of a make-up artist, give them a call up to ten days before the wedding and confirm the details. Get a mobile phone number in case you need to contact them in an emergency. If you are doing your own make-up have at least one practice a couple of days before the wedding and make sure you have everything you need, including clean brushes, make-up remover, cotton wool, cotton buds and plenty of tissues.

If you are getting ready at home or at an hotel and having your hair and make-up done there, set aside the right room for this. It need to be well-lit with enough power points and a comfortable chair. Stress always shows in your face! Therefore, don't have everyone with you in the room while you are getting ready. When you choose your bridesmaid be sure she or they are going to be good people to have around you on-the-day: people who will not make it about them. Ifd they are not calm, remove them from the room or get them to sit and quietly have their hair and make-up done. Just get them away from you!

If you are going to the salon for your hair and make-up confirm the appointment a couple of weeks before, turn up on time and enjoy it. If you are properly organized, then everything will go like clockwork.
