Top make-up tips

  • Find a make-up artist. Ask friends, your hair salon, your photographer or look in local brides' guides. If you can afford to, go to an agency.
  • Don't purchase make-up until you have chosen your outfit.
  • Get free advice from make-up counters and ask for samples. Beware of being sold products from this season's range rather than what will suit you.
    • Avoid wearing make-up during the week  before your wedding.
    • When getting ready on your wedding day, wear something that buttons up-the-front so that that you don't spoil your hair and make-up when you change.
    • When applying you own make-up the golden rule is 'blend, blend, blen' Apply slowly to skin that has been well moisturised half an hour before. Use clean brushes and never apply directly from the pot to the face.
    • Use natural coloured lip-liner and consider switching your lipstick to a richer colour later in the day if moving from dusk to evening.
    • Add lip gloss for a touch of glamour in the evening.

      • Waterproof mascara is a must!
      • Once dressed and made-up, don't drink anything coloured that could spill and stain your outfit. Drink through a straw!
      • Don't over kiss your groom before the formal photographs, because he'll be covered with lipstick!
