Theme Weddings

Theme parties are the latest fashion in events and are gradually working their way into the world of weddings. It's all about picking a theme and making all the details revolve around it.

Theme weddings are the latest in wedding planning, according to current trends that are leaning towards something original and different.

In contrast to the setting, theme weddings require a certain amount of dramatisation.  The bride and groom usually pick a theme that has some special significance for them.

The elements that form a part of this type of wedding are the same as those of any other wedding:
  • The bride and groom and their dress/suit
  • The location of the wedding
  • The place for the reception
  • The menu
  • The invitations
  • The wedding favours
  • The music
  • The decoration
  • The entertainment
  • The guests

The most common themes are:
  • Countries and cultures, for example, an Irish wedding or a Hawaiian wedding!
  • Dates or special seasons, such as Valentine's Day or an autumn wedding.
  • Colours, among which mauve plays a leading role in many celebrations.
  • Nature, choosing a type of flower as the focal point, for example.
  • Periods from history, such as the 1920s or the Middle Ages.
  • Hobbies, such as music or cinema.

In any case, when organising a theme wedding it is important to consider each and every aspect involved; study how they can be personalised to favour the chosen theme and above all, don't overdo the decoration.  And don't forget to tell the guests if they need to dress in a particular style!
