Wedding in the rain
If you get married in the spring, you may have a surprise guest: the rain As the saying goes, “a wet bride is a lucky bride”, and “a prepared woman is worth two”, we are going to give you some ideas to cheer up the bad weather.
You’ve got it all prepared: the dress, the restaurant, the church, the gifts for the guests. But there is something that you cannot control: the rain And no matter how much you pray, if it wants to rain, it will rain. We don’t want anything to ruin your day, so we have compiled some suggestions so that the rain stops being your enemy and becomes your ally.
Always have a plan B
If you are organising an open air wedding, remember that we cannot control the weather, but we can be prepared and have a plan B Talk to the hotel or restaurant where you will be celebrating your wedding and together look for a closed area where you can get married if it does rain. Another option is to hire a marquee, there are transparent ones, but they are quite expensive.
Buy two umbrellas, one black and one white
Look for two large and elegant umbrellas. A black one for the groom and a white one for the bride. They will allow you to enter the church or registrar’s office without getting wet. When leaving, as man and wife, you can use one of them.
Make a gift of coloured umbrellas to your guests.
If you can’t beat them, join them. Have baskets full of pretty umbrellas at the entrance to the church. You could choose two colours (one more feminine and one more masculine), all the same colour (choose a neutral colour that will serve for both men and women) or various colours. Your guests will thank you and the photos will be lovely.
Postpone the photo session…
Before the wedding, agree with your photographer that if it rains, the album photos will be done another day. Look on the positive side: you can enjoy the aperitif with your guests and you’ll get to put that lovely dress back on for another day.
…or take advantage of the light and romanticism of the rain
If you don’t mind getting a bit wet, you can take advantage of the magic of the rain to do the photos. The photos will be lovely, and you can show off your umbrellas. On the other hand, you can opt to do the photo session in the hotel, taking advantage of the surroundings.
