Butterfly Wedding Theme

Butterflies are delicate, feminine, fun and a perfect theme for your wedding. Let's take a look at which of these butterfly related ideas takes you on a flight of fancy.

Insects mostly have a yuck factor, and do not make good wedding themes, with one exception: butterflies! Light and free, colourful and loud, soft and feminine, they inspire women around the world. Take a look at some of the places you can incorporate them into your big day.
  • Hair.
Butterfly hair clips are the perfect way to use these little animals. Whether sitting delicately in up dos, or in hair down and free, they really add a touch of fun and sophistication to your look. Try them in gold and silver for extra sparkle, or in natural colours for a peaceful hippy look. They can be made of material or paper, but the prettiest option is feathers.

  • Clothes and jewellery.
You could choose something with butterfly prints incorporated into it, or have butterflies embroidered into the bodice of a dress in glass beads or sequins. Butterflies make fantastic brooches, earrings and look good incorporated into almost any jewellery. If you have subtle butterfly details, why not go all out for the bridesmaids and have them wear a loud print, or at least matching hairpieces to you.

  • Favours and stationary.
From decorating your invites, menus and thankful cards, to adorning favour boxes, butterflies add a special touch all around. Why don’t you use butterfly card holders for place cards, they double up as practical and beautiful favours.

  • Cakes and food.
Cakes can be adorned with butterfly-shaped sugar decorations, while your wedding cake could look spectacular with dozens of the feathered friends resting all over it.

  • Flowers.
They can be nestled amongst flowers displays for a country or exotic look, depending on the colour scheme. Flower displays could be turned into butterfly shapes, and your bouquet could also be adorned with a couple.
