Centrepieces for a Rustic Wedding

The location will always be the focal point for a rustic or country wedding. In this case, we propose some simple and pretty centrepieces where the flowers shine in harmony and balance with these verdant surroundings..

To make these centrepieces you will need glass jars of different sizes and some rustic style string or twine. We used different glass jars from jams and spreads.

  • Remember that you will need a minimum of three for each table (always an odd number). Collect a few more to account for breakages.
  • Wash the jars well, removing all the paper labels. For resistant labels uses bit of nail varnish remover on a cotton pad.
  • Dry the jars with paper towels or a cotton cloth to get rid of the smears.
  • Decorate each jar with the string, depending on the size you will need more or less. For the tall ones we have wrapped the string around the middle, as in the top photo. For the medium ones do the same but taking the string much lower and for the smallest ones just put string around the neck of the jar. Make sure you wrap the string nice and tight so it doesn’t slip off, then tie it with a simple knot and a bow.

  • On the day of the wedding you will have to make each centrepiece with the fresh flowers that arrive. Each table should have a mixture of different types of flowers, this may take a while so either be very organised with your time, or (ideally) find a good fiend or family member that will take care of it for you.

  • To make it all quick and easy we recommend that you do a practice run before the big day. This way you will know the right combination of flowers for your taste. Remember that the flowers should match the vegetation around where you put them.
