Do you require separate venues for the ceremony and reception or are you looking for a venue that can hold both? If the former, confine your search for a reception venue within a 30 minutes drive from the ceremony.
Get as much information as you can from venues before visiting them and only visit those within your budget. Always see them at the time of day or evening you¡ll be using them. If you have your heart set upon a venue, but it is out of your price range, consider a weekday and/or out-of season wedding. Could you reduce the costs by holding a different a different style celebration – a cocktail party instead of full sit-down dinner, for example?
Before booking a venue for a civil ceremony, or a religious one where a registrar’s presence is required, always contact the local register office to ensure a register is available on your chosen date.
